GiPSo vzw (deelwerking van STAN vzw) geeft informatie en advies en biedt daarnaast ondersteuning en coaching aan ouders/ anderen die een kleinschalige woon- of dagbesteding willen opstarten. Ze biedt een gps, neemt niets uit handen, maar laat de ouders zelf het stuur nemen en keuzes maken.
Stappenplan:
- Verkennende fase - in deze fase begin je met het delen van je droom. Je zoekt medestanders, personen met een beperking, ouders, die mee willen stappen in het project. Praat met mensen uit je omgeving over je plannen, maak contact met zoveel mogelijk mensen uit het brede netwerk van je zoon/dochter, stel een zoekertje op en verspreid dit via social media, de lokale krant, websites (voorbeeld GiPSo), belangenorganisaties. Ga vervolgens in gesprek met de mensen die echt interesse hebben, maar bedenk van tevoren goed wat je zelf wilt, wat je kind met een handicap nodig heeft.
- Conceptuele fase (vorm geven) - de ideeën krijgen vorm en worden in een plan gegoten. Je moet als groep eerst goed weten wat je zoekt, voor je daadwerkelijk op zoek gaat. Praat hier dus voldoende over, deel je verlanglijstjes, stel je solidair op, zet de neuzen in dezelfde richting! Maak samen een eerste ontwerp, een sterke basis die gedeeld wordt door iedereen.
- Realisatiefase - in deze fase worden de plannen uitgevoerd. Denk hierbij onder meer aan het verwerven van rechtspersoonlijkheid, de zoektocht naar grond, de zoektocht naar samenwerkingspartners, je financieel plaatje opmaken, fondsenwerving opstarten, … Blijf hierbij de neuzen in dezelfde richting zetten en verlies de missie en visie niet uit het oog; een plek creëeren voor personen met een beperking.
- Opstartfase - de deuren van het project gaan open, maar dat is niet het eindpunt. Veel praktische zaken moet je nu ten uitvoer brengen, zoals de afspraken met zorgaanbieders. Voor de bewoners zelf is het een grote stap en soms zetten projecten eerst in op dagbesteding en pas later op wonen. Ook het personeel zal een wenperiode nodig hebben en voor de ouders is het belangrijk om de zorg voor hun kind voor een deel los te leren laten.
