Wat is het zorgbudget voor zwaar zorgbehoevenden?

Via de zorgkas van je ziekenfonds kun je in aanmerking komen voor het zorgbudget voor zwaar zorgbehoevenden, de vroegere Vlaamse zorgverzekering.

Het zorgbudget is een bedrag van 135 euro per maand, dat wordt toegekend aan personen die veel zorg nodig hebben. Dit kan zowel thuis zijn als in een voorziening. Je kunt het vrij besteden aan bijvoorbeeld gezinszorg, een vergoeding voor de mantelzorger(s), poetshulp of de aankoop van hulpmiddelen. Je hoeft het niet te verantwoorden naar de zorgkas toe.

Voorwaarde is, dat je bent aangesloten bij de Vlaamse Sociale Bescherming. Ben je ouder dan 25 jaar en woon je in Vlaanderen? Dan ben je verplicht je aan te sluiten en de jaarlijks bijdrage te betalen. Personen die in het Brussels Gewest wonen, kunnen zich vrijwillig aansluiten. Ben je 25 jaar of jonger dan kun je je aansluiten om in aanmerking te komen voor het zorgbudget, maar je hoeft de jaarlijkse bijdrage dan niet te betalen.

Tweede voorwaarde is dat je kunt bewijzen met een attest of een meting zorgzwaarte dat je veel zorg nodig hebt, zoals veel ondersteuning thuis. Soms krijg je het attest automatisch toe gestuurd door de zorgkas. Zo niet, kun je het beste navraag doen bij je eigen zorgkas.

Belangrijk om te weten: je hebt geen recht op het zorgbudget als je een Persoonlijke-Assistentiebudget of een Persoonsvolgend budget ontvangt of als je voltijds in een bepaalde voorziening verblijft. Toch is het goed om het zorgbudget voor zwaar hulpbehoevenden aan te vragen. Als je geen persoonlijke-assistentie of persoonsvolgend budget meer ontvangt of als je niet meer voltijds in de voorziening verblijft, ontvang je meteen het zorgbudget voor zwaar hulpbehoevenden. Je hoeft in dat geval geen nieuwe aanvraag in te dienen en hebt dus geen wachttijd.

In de volksmond wordt dit zorgbudget ook wel de mantelzorgpremie genoemd, maar let op dat je dit niet verwart met de gemeentelijke mantelzorgpremie.
