Is barbecueën wel gezond? Mits je een aantal regels in acht neemt, kan het op een (voedsel-)veilige manier.
We genieten volop van de zon, van sfeervol gedekte tafels, familie en vrienden. Dit is hèt seizoen bij uitstek om tijd te maken voor elkaar en samen te barbecueën. Met deze tips doe je het op een veilige manier:
- Gebruik steeds gezuiverde houtskool
- Hou de temperatuur en de duur van het grillen en/of barbecueën goed in de gaten
- Vis of vlees leggen we pas op de rooster als de vlammen zijn gedoofd en er een wit laagje op de houtskool ligt
- Zorg dat er geen druipend vet in contact komt met de warmtebron, want dan wordt de vorming van kankerverwekkende stoffen versneld. Die mengen zich met opstijgende rook en leggen een film rond het vlees en/of de vis. Druipend vet is dus te vermijden.
- Kies voor gezonde ingrediënten: het hoeft niet altijd vlees en gevogelte te zijn. Vis of een waaier aan verse groenten smaken ook heerlijk op de BBQ.
- Laat je BBQ steeds vergezellen met rijst, pasta, brood of aardappelen en een variatie aan overheerlijke seizoensgroenten
- Blijf altijd in de buurt van de barbecue en houd toezicht terwijl het vuur brandt. Open vuur kan onvoorspelbaar zijn, dus het is belangrijk om alert te blijven.
- Voedselhygiëne: hanteer een goede voedselhygiëne om voedselvergiftiging te voorkomen zoals handen wassen, rauw vlees gescheiden houden van bereid voedsel en - ten slotte - zorg ervoor dat vlees grondig gaar is. Eet geen verbrande stukken vlees, vis of groenten.
