Samen streven naar asbestveilige zorgvoorzieningen

De Vlaamse Regering wil Vlaanderen tegen 2040 volledig ‘asbestveilig’ maken. Dat betekent dat er enkel nog asbesttoepassingen in goede staat in onze leefomgeving aanwezig mogen zijn en dat al het risicovolle asbest veilig is weggenomen en opgeborgen.
Het actieplan Asbestafbouw streeft ook naar een versnelde verwijdering van asbesthoudende materialen die mogelijk asbestvezels vrijgeven:
- Tegen 2034 moeten de meest risicovolle asbesttoepassingen worden weggenomen uit Vlaamse gebouwen en woningen. Bijvoorbeeld asbestcementen daken en gevels, en niet-hechtgebonden asbesttoepassingen.
- Tegen 2040 moeten alle andere asbesttoepassingen in slechte staat verwijderd zijn.
Beide streefdata zijn alvast wettelijk verplicht voor publieke gebouwen, de overheid heeft hier immers een voorbeeldfunctie.
