Ik heb mijn persoonsvolgend budget dit jaar niet opgebruikt, krijg ik nu volgend jaar minder budget?

Stel dat je niet het volledige persoonsvolgend budget gebruikt in een jaar, heeft dit dan gevolgen, krijg je dan bijvoorbeeld het volgende jaar minder budget toegewezen?

Het persoonsvolgend budget is een budget op jaarbasis. Je budget blijft dezelfde hoogte houden, ook al heb je het niet volledig nodig gehad of opgebruikt in het afgelopen jaar. Het bedrag dat aan het eind van het jaar overblijft, kun je niet overdragen naar het volgende jaar. In feite gaat dit terug naar de Vlaamse regering, een bepaald deel kan gebruikt worden voor de toekenning van nieuwe budgetten.

Het Vlaams Agentschap voor Personen met een Handicap (VAPH) controleert wie weinig van hun budget gebruiken. Ze neemt contact met deze budgethouders, om na te gaan waarom dit zo is. Heb je een aanvaardbare verklaring hiervoor, die het VAPH erkent, dan behoud je hetzelfde bedrag. Anders zullen er wel maatregelen volgen.
