Onder het thema “Mijn belangen, onze keuzes” kwamen we samen in Vormingscentrum Guislain in Gent, om ervaringen uit te wisselen en samen na te denken over gedeelde keuzes rond bewindvoering en andere beschermingsmaatregelen voor personen met een handicap. Langs onze kant zijn wij vooral dankbaar voor ieders betrokkenheid en kwetsbare eerlijkheid die dag. Er werd open gesproken door zowel de sprekers als de bezoekers, en dit leverde rijke informatie op.
De dag werd in goede banen geleid door theatermaker Sander Deckx. Hij zorgde ervoor dat iedereen zich welkom voelde en de gesprekken vloeiend overliepen in elkaar. Zijn humor mocht hierbij zeker niet ontbreken.
De eerste spreker die hij mocht aankondigen was Luc Goutry, initiatiefnemer van de Wet op de Bewindvoering (ook wel de wet Goutry). Hij legde in duidelijke taal uit wat de bedoelingen destijds waren, en hoe hij dat in de praktijk terugziet.
