Wat is globale individuele ondersteuning?

Hulp nodig om de overgang van de crèche naar de kleuterschool makkelijker te laten verlopen voor je kindje? Of een andere belangrijke overgang? Een oplossing kan Globale Individuele Ondersteuning zijn.

Globale individuele ondersteuning (GIO) is speciaal bedoeld om de belangrijke overgangsmomenten zoals de eerste stap naar de kinderopvang of de overgang van de kleuterklas naar de lagere school makkelijker te maken. De ondersteuning is bestemd voor kinderen van 0 tot 7 jaar, met (een vermoeden van) een handicap die starten in de kinderopvang, de kleuterklas of het eerste leerjaar.

Het is een aparte functie binnen de rechtstreeks toegankelijke hulp (RTH). Om er gebruik van te maken, moet je kind dan ook voldoen aan de algemene voorwaarden van rechtstreeks toegankelijke hulp. Je kunt maximaal een 30-tal uren ondersteuning krijgen (wat gelijk staat met vier RTH-punten op jaarbasis). Welke zorgaanbieders GIO aanbieden, kun je terugvinden via deze website. Ze bieden laagdrempelige, soepel inzetbare hulp die in afstemming met de ouders en andere partners vorm krijgt. In een gezamenlijke zoektocht wordt bekeken wat je kind nodig heeft om mee te draaien in de opvang, de klas of op school. Het is een kortdurende ondersteuning (maximaal 30 uren), gericht op specifieke noden (bv. gedragsproblemen, structuur, voorspelbaarheid, sociale vaardigheden, taakspanning, zindelijkheid, slapen, eten,... ).

Let op: de 4 punten voor globale individuele ondersteuning staan los van de 8 punten die worden genoemd bij rechtstreeks toegankelijke hulp. Je kunt ze dus apart besteden, speciaal om de opstart in crèche of school voor je kindje gemakkelijker te maken. Of je de gewenste hulp meteen krijgt, is afhankelijk van de beschikbare plaatsen bij de zorgaanbieder.
