Dinsdag 12 maart gaan mensen met een handicap in een wachtrij staan bij de kantoren van het VAPH in Hasselt. Echter: een wachtrij voor een gesloten loket. Want zo voelt het voor de 20.000 mensen die op de wachtlijst staan voor ondersteuning bij het VAPH. Afspraak om 16 u aan het station van Hasselt.
Kom mee protesteren tegen de wachtlijst voor ondersteuning
Op dinsdag 12 maart gaan mensen met een handicap in een wachtrij staan bij de kantoren van het VAPH in Hasselt. Echter: een wachtrij voor een gesloten loket. Want zo voelt het voor de 20.000 mensen die op de wachtlijst staan voor ondersteuning bij het VAPH.

"We willen in maart de kans geven aan de vele mensen in het oosten van Vlaanderen om hun proteststem te laten horen tegen de wachtlijst."
De Actiegroep Recht op Ondersteuning wil morgen 12 maart in Hasselt een kritische noot brengen bij de Week van de Zorg. De Week van de Zorg die doorgaat van 10 tot 17 maart zet de zorgsector positief in de kijker. Niets mis mee. Maar men mag de realiteit van de wachtlijsten voor budgetten voor zorg en ondersteuning niet vergeten. Die treffen meer dan 20.000 kinderen, jongeren en volwassenen met een handicap. Ze staan jarenlang op de wachtlijst en ontberen de nodige ondersteuning.
De Actiegroep Recht op Ondersteuning wil via publieke acties dit probleem aan de kaak stellen. Na drie acties in Brussel en één in Gent, wordt nu in Hasselt actie gevoerd. Het aantal mensen dat mee actievoert, de acties volgt, en de acties steunt, groeit gestaag.
De actievoerders verzamelen om 15u aan Panos in het Station van Hasselt en zullen om 16u een symbolische wachtrij vormen aan de deur van het Vlaams Administratief Centrum waar onder meer het Vlaams Agentschap voor Personen met een Handicap haar provinciale kantoren heeft.
Mensen met een handicap zullen letterlijk aan een lange ketting vasthangen. De symbolische apen waarmee de Actiegroep stelt “wij staan voor aap op de wachtlijst” zullen van de partij zijn. Witte T-shirts met daarop het aantal jaren dat mensen op de wachtlijst staan tonen de onschuld van mensen wier recht op ondersteuning al jaren geschonden wordt. Via een flyer (zie bijlage) zullen de actievoerders informatie geven aan geïnteresseerde voorbijgangers waarvoor ze actie voeren.
Tijdens de actie wordt bovendien ook de aftrap gegeven van het fotoproject van de Actiegroep. Hiermee wil de Actiegroep gezicht en woorden geven aan wie de eis van de Actiegroep steunt. Een Work in Progress dat in Hasselt voor het eerst getoond wordt.
