Op dinsdag 6 februari gaan mensen met een handicap in een wachtrij staan bij de kantoren van het VAPH in Gent. Echter: een wachtrij voor een gesloten loket. Want zo voelt het voor de 20.000 mensen die op de wachtlijst staan voor ondersteuning bij het VAPH.

Dit is de vierde van een reeks acties van de Actiegroep Recht op Ondersteuning. De actievoerders vragen een echt recht op ondersteuning: na een erkenning door de overheid dat je een budget voor ondersteuning nodig hebt, moet je het ook meteen van diezelfde overheid krijgen.
In de begroting voor 2024 van de Vlaamse regering zijn geen middelen voorzien om de mensen op de wachtlijst hun budget te geven waar ze al jaren op wachten. Er is dus geen enkel perspectief, want geen uitbreidingsbeleid. Dus het loket is gesloten.
De Actiegroep Recht op Ondersteuning voert actie met de slogans:
- 20.000 mensen met een handicap wachten op een budget voor ondersteuning
- Wij hebben NU recht op ondersteuning
- VAPH gesloten loket geen budget
- Oproep tot de actie
We roepen personen met een handicap op de wachtlijst en medestanders op om op dinsdagnamiddag 6 februari naar het station van Gent St. Pieters te komen. Van daar stappen we dan naar de kantoren van het VAPH (Virginie Lovelinggebouw).
